Hey All,

I just thought I would touch base you everyone. I am interested in open sourcing pimp onto Github. If I get lets say 5 people interested in both looking at the code and updating it from time to time, I will do it.

Pimp is written in C#/ASP.NET/MVC 2.0/LINQ

UtopiaShrimp has an Upgraded Layout!

I had this update sitting around for the past 3 months or so. It has been completed, and I can happily say, I just got done with testing it. So here is the deal.

Utopiashrimp.com is the NEW layout of Pimp. I will not be migrating this new layout for at least a month into the Utopiapimp, but it will come!

So here is what I am asking of the community. Please go to Utopiashrimp.com and give a real good once, twice or three times over. Come back to this blog post and go ahead and comment about it. Tell me your thoughts on what you believe it should be instead of what it currently is. I am here and will listen!

I will listen to every comment, and see what I can do to make sure things are changed properly. Remember, comment on this post, not any other. For now, this is the feedback I will put into Shrimp.

Hey All,

I figured I would let you all know whats going on with both Pimp and my life.

Two months ago, I received an investment to create a software company. While I would like to go into the dynamics of the software company, I cannot at this moment. I would like to tell everyone that I have been devoting all my time and effort into this company and haven’t actually spent any day in the past two weeks or so on Pimp. I have many changes, I have been making to pimp. But I just haven’t found the moment I can devote to it, to both upload those changes and support you all when you come to me with questions.

I have a deadline for August 26th with my company. After this deadline, Im just going to devote an entire week to pimp to both upload those changes and make the Pimpers happy. I hope you can understand while I try and stand this Software company up on its feet.

I have NOT forgotten about Pimp. It is honestly on my mind EVERY day coming up with new ideas and things that can be improved upon. I just thought I would let you as the user base know where I stand. I have also been receiving plenty of feedback and I promise you all, its not lost on me. I am working at the feedback received.

Angel Changed Their Formatting Again

All,

Just in case your not aware, Angel changed the way they format pages again, so I am working on it. This means, when creating a new kingdom, be sure to use a raw page instead of an Angel page.

I Migrated The Server

Hey all,

I migrated the utopiapimp server over to a brand new spanking machine!! The only problem is that data is going to be a day old when we finally move the databases over.

So if you have done ANYTHING with pimp in the past 24 hours from this post, consider it gone and you must redo it. Sorry for the inconvenience, but we did it during the age down time so hopefully not much has been affected.

Server Migration on Friday

All,

The server has been really slow as of late, mainly due to larger number of users. So we are upping the Ram used on it. Sadly, the hosting company needs to migrate us to new hardware first before they do it. So sometime on Friday, Utopiapimp will have about an hours worth of DATA LOSS. I will post another message as to when it will be, but sometime tomorrow is the plan. The data loss is due to migrating all the data to the new server and also updating the DNS records.

So when you log into utopiapimp on Friday, please make sure to CTRL+F5 before logging in. This will refresh your browsers cache and help with the migration.

btw, I am really close to finishing up the new design for pimp. Hopefully you all will be happy about the new change.

UTools For Pimp

I have asked the UTools developer to change up the way he formats his pages to pimp, therefore allowing us to start coding for his tool. I think its one of the best. If your UTools page doesn’t properly work at this moment in time, please just use a raw format. I am working haste-fully on this.

I should start seeing improvements in the next week for it.

The Outage Yesterday

Sorry for the outage yesterday. The server was experiencing some email problems and had to be shut down for a brief period to fix the issue.

Angel For Linux

Hey All,

I just wanted to give a shout out. For anyone using Linux and hate that Angel doesn’t Run on Linux, EUS release a tool call Seraphim. It is cross platform and work on Linux especially.

While Pimp doesn’t currently take in Seraphim pages, I will be placing them on the list of Todo’s. So go ahead, download it and start using it. It doesn’t have as many features, but Eus promises they are coming!

Maybe Eus will go open source with it so it can be upgraded faster!

All,

I know some have been unable to register for Pimp with their new kingdom. Please keep trying. It looks like Angel decided to change its Kingdom Pages around too, so I must make sure that works as well.

Raw kingdom pages should work, and please make sure your reading the directions before you start a kingdom. Some of you are not following all the directions.

Fixing Problems

Hey All,

I wanted to keep you updated. I will be pushing changes to Pimp tonight for the new age on all the bugs we have been getting. So if something isn’t working today, give me one more day to get it working.

Using Pimp with a Mobile Device. Ive been getting tons of errors for a good 6 months trying to figure out what was causing it. Ive finally figured it out just the other day. The Mobile devices look for numbers in the webpage that they can convert to Phone Numbers. Well, some of the things Pimp looks for when submitting items or loading screens are the same numbers that your mobile devices try to convert into phone numbers. Sadly, this is a BIG CHANGE to get this fixed. I don’t want to make it yet until I push out the new and fresh looking Pimp. So, just in case you do, be aware that browsing pimp on a mobile device might break it.

New Site Design Coming to Pimp

As you have seen now, Utopia has received a New Site Design. Woot!!! It looks beautiful if you ask me.

In coinciding with that, Pimp will be receiving a new fresh design as well in the coming future. Its not here yet and well, It might not be for this age, but it is coming! So I just wanted to tell Sean and Brian they did an awesome job on the new design!

New Age Facts

All,

The new age is quickly approaching. While I am happy to see the new age coming, there are somethings that I need you all to be aware of.

There are User Interface changes the Gods of Utopia are making to the game. Ill let them explain it more when they so choose, but I should let you know how I am preparing for it.

They have let me know of the changes and see them first hand. Most of the text on the UI side of things has remained the same, but there will be certain instances of INTEL not being captured by Pimp at first. I will be working hard to make sure these instances are few and far between, but bare with me until all this gets fixed.

If you notice any data that isn’t being captured by pimp, and I haven’t fixed it within a day or so, please let me know by email. I can be reached at the email at the bottom of pimp. Please post the page in the email and what didn’t get captured. Ill make sure to fix it as soon as possible.

Hopefully if everything goes well, it should work perfectly, but if and when it doesn’t. Expect most the fixes to be complete within a week or so of the new changes.

Linking Utopia Angel to Utopiapimp.com

Step 1: Download Utopia Angel from www.utopiatemple.com. Install it. If angel requests connection to the internet and you have a firewall installed, allow angel full access. Its not spyware and its not harmfull, it just display a small commercial window while its in use.

Step 2: Register on www.utopiapimp.com. Get a code from your monarch and join your kingdom account.

Step 3: Right-click on the tray-icon of utopia angel and click on forum agent. A window will pop up.

Step 4: Press the settings-button. Another window will pop up.

Step 5: Press on the New-button. A small form window will pop up.

Enter the following information in the appropriate fields as Shown below.

Angel settings are as follows:

Display name: UtopiaPimp

URL: http://utopiapimp.com/angelapi.aspx

Forum Name: This is the “exact name” of your province inside your kingdom. It is “not” your user name, but the province name you selected when you signed up to this UtopiaPimp.

Username: Username to UtopiaPimp.com.

User Password: Password to UtopiaPimp.com.

Forum Password: NOT Needed.
